What it does
A socket shaped for the J1772 connector
The opening follows the round J1772 connector and the notch for its latch, so the plug slides in the way it goes into a car and sits upright instead of hanging by its cable. With the connector end inside the socket, the pins stay out of dust and grit between charges.

The curved tongue above the socket takes the weight of the coiled cable, so the plug is not holding it up and the cable is not lying on the floor. Hang the cable in loose loops: tight coils strain it where it enters the handle.
Mounts with three screws
Three screws and three wall anchors come in the box. Drill the holes, tap in the anchors for drywall or masonry, and screw the holster to the wall next to the charger, at a height you can reach without bending.
Overview
A charging plug left on the floor gets stepped on, driven over and filled with grit, and a cable hanging from the plug pulls on its latch. This holster gives both a place on the wall: the plug slides into a socket shaped for the J1772 connector, and the cable coils over the hook above it.
It is a single molded piece that mounts with the screws supplied, beside the charger in a garage or under cover outside. The connector end of a J1772 plug is the same shape on every charger that uses it, so the holster takes the plug of a wall charger or a portable charger whichever brand made the handle.
Compatibility

Fits the SAE J1772 plug on Level 2 wall chargers and portable chargers. It does not fit NACS (Tesla) plugs.
- A Tesla charged through a J1772 adapter still has a J1772 plug on the wall, so this is the holster for that charger.

Will this fit my charger’s plug?
If your charger has a J1772 plug, yes. The connector end is standardized, so it is the same shape whichever company made the charger, and most non-Tesla chargers sold in the US use it. If your plug is the slimmer Tesla-style NACS plug, choose the NACS holster instead.
I drive a Tesla, but my charger has a J1772 plug. Which holster do I need?
This one. The holster holds the plug on the charger, not the adapter on the car, so a charger with a J1772 plug needs the J1772 holster even when the car it charges is a Tesla.
Can I mount it outdoors?
Yes, where rain does not run straight into the socket: under the charger, under an eave or under a cover. It is molded plastic, and the anchors supplied suit drywall and masonry.
How high should I mount it?
Around waist height suits most people, next to the charger on the side that faces where you park. Leave room above it so the cable loops hang clear of the floor.
Does it lock the plug?
No. The plug rests in the socket and lifts straight out. For a plug that only someone with the code can take out, see the lockable J1772 holster.
