Accessibility statement

People contact us when something has gone wrong with their vehicle, often from the side of a road. A site that is hard to use is a real problem at that moment, for everyone, and an impossible one for some.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA across this site.

These are built in, not retrofitted:

• Every page works with the keyboard alone, in a logical order, with a visible focus indicator that we never remove.
• A "skip to main content" link is the first thing a keyboard user reaches.
• Text meets the 4.5:1 contrast minimum against its background. Our brand orange fails that test as body text on our dark background, so we use a lighter tone for accent text and reserve the full orange for button fills and large headings.
• Interactive targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
• Form fields have real labels, not placeholder text standing in for one. Errors are announced to screen readers and tied to the field they belong to.
• Images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
• Content is delivered as HTML from the server, so it is available whether or not JavaScript runs.
• Animation respects the "reduce motion" setting in your operating system.

Every release runs automated accessibility checks (axe-core) against each page type, and the build fails on any critical or serious violation. That catches a large share of common defects.

Automated testing cannot catch everything. Whether alternative text is actually useful, whether a heading structure makes sense, whether an interaction is understandable — those need a person. We review manually and we do not claim the automated pass is the whole story.

We would rather tell you what is imperfect than claim it is not:

• Some photographs of technical equipment carry alternative text describing the scene rather than every detail visible in it.
• Third-party content we embed is outside our direct control, though we choose what to embed with this in mind.
• We have not yet completed a formal audit by an external accessibility specialist.

If any part of this site stops you doing what you came to do, tell us. Say what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what happened. Tell us what you are using — browser, screen reader, magnifier — if you can.

We treat accessibility reports as defects, not as feature requests. We aim to acknowledge within five business days.
